Santiago G. Medina Muñoz

PhD candidate, Population & Evolutionary Genomics

Santiago Medina-Muñoz

I'm a PhD candidate in the Human Evolutionary and Population Genomics Lab (MorenoLab) at CINVESTAV Irapuato, advised by Andrés Moreno-Estrada and co-advised by Aaron Ragsdale. My dissertation reconstructs the demographic history of Indigenous populations from Mexico and the Americas using whole-genome sequencing data.

I work at the boundary between population-genetic theory and genomic data: ancestral recombination graph reconstruction, linkage-disequilibrium-based demographic inference, identity-by-descent analysis, and pangenome assembly. Based in Mexico City.
